About Us

Tomaree Peninsula Photography Club

Membership is only $35 per year

The Tomaree Peninsula Photography Club came into being November 2008 over a cup of coffee and an ad in the local paper. The response from the ad was sufficient for us to meet at the Nelson Bay Diggers and begin making arrangements for the formation of the club.

Rudy, being at the initial meeting and through his connection to the Soldiers Point Bowling Club, was able to arrange for us to hold our monthly meetings and activities at the club. This makes our club and committee meetings very pleasant as we are able to have a drink as well as order food or coffee.

Since then we have grown steadily and were able to hold our first Photography Exhibition in November 2009. This was a great success and has since continued over subsequent years.

Club meetings are held 7pm on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at Soldiers Point Bowling Club.

Every month we hold an open/themed photographic competition across four categories: Colour, Black and White, Macro and Creative/Altered Reality. Members bring a long their printed images for display and all member present vote for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

We also arrange an outing each month to help members improve their skills and increase general photographic knowledge out in the field..

Previously the club has conducted photographic outings which have previously included whale watching, Birubi beach sunset shoots, night shoots, painting with light (torches and steel wool spinning). Please see the latest event page for upcoming activities.

We aim to keep formalities to a minimum at meetings, leaving more time to enjoy photography.

Committee meetings are held a minimum of four times a year and there is an open invitation for all members to attend. them.

Come join us.
